Meaning, fear of staring into someone else's eyes is the fear that they will hypnotize you. And staring into a lover's eyes is the sweetest kind of hypnosis. And staring at oneself in the mirror is another kind of hypnosis - usually, we have conversations with ourselves during that staredown involving life lessons.
